The Ancestral Goa museum/ display is located in the small village of Loutolim which is approximately 25 km away from Panaji and 10 km away from Margao. The musuem is also called as big foot. His sincere acts even pleased the Almighty. However, his stingy neighbors took away all of the wealth that Mahadar possessed, leaving him poverty-stricken. The death of his wife deserted him even further. With his strong belief in God, Mahadar was put to test and asked for one act of immense faith. All Mahadar asked the God was for a small place to pray, instead, he was given a hot rock. Mahadar stood on one foot on the hot rock and prayed. Seeing his religious intensity, the Gods ascended him to heaven. What was left behind is the same foot impression of Mahadar.
Best time to reach Loutolim
“Louutolim” in Goa is most excellent visited in the months of late October to April. The Carnival period in the month of “February” through early “March” is good time, attract a lot of tourists to Loutolim and Goa. Many parades are taken out on the streets and the the people come out to party and feast. The JMb peak season is from “December to March”, when the climate is very chilly with temperature not crossing 32° C. The nights are cool in December-January, specially if you are on the beach, so carrying a light wrap is a good idea.

By Air : Loutolim nearest airport is “Dabolim” which is 29 km away from Panaji, nearby the city of Vasco da Gama, charter flights come in from major Indian cities such as Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Thiruvanthapuram, Delhi and Kochi and also form Europe. From the airport, you can take a pre paid taxi or shared taxi into town.
